Travelling to Cuba, India or Indonesia?
Before you travel please contact the Fidor UK customer service team to enable them to activate your Fidor Debit MasterCard to work. They will need to activate each country separately, e.g. enabling use in Cuba will not enable use in India.
What steps should you take?
If you want to use your MasterCard in the above countries then please call 03333 361284 and ask for the release form well in advance, minimum one week before starting your vacation. This activation is free of charge.
Please log in to answer the question.

dnair28 - 07.04.2016 04:49:53I recently requested a release form to unlock my card. As MIROW states, the activation is free but it comes at a price - that signature clears Fidor of any responsibility for fraudulent transactions or withdrawals in those countries! I expect to be protected from fraud wherever I travel - none of my other banks make me sign such a ridiculous waiver. Natwest, for example, asks you to fill out a travel plan within online banking so that they are aware I may be using my card in certain countries over a certain period of time. As such, I did not sign the form and do not use Fidor when I travel to these countries.

Having to enter you PIN in a Point of Sale transaction before doing any contactless paymenta is a security precaution that stops card being used if lost in post. By doing a PIN transaction they effectively confirm the card safely in your possession and then will allow contactless use.

Great! Let's our baby Fidor UK facilitate concretely & grow up sooner... Upon receiving myTap MasterCard, I notice this morning something on the card paper holder " Importantly: Due to security reasons, you can only use contactless payments once you have either made an online payment or an office transaction that required a PIN entry. " Hope every member be well informed already!

While you could follow something similar on your own initiative as a bank, I question if at this stage in Fidor's development in the UK there is much point as it costs money to join and belong to PCI and for that you are like many trade organizations just buying the right to use their logo to say you follow their security standards council code. Perhaps it is better they remain focused on launching new products and services this year and participation in trade bodies be a more medium term than short term aim.

The PCI SS compliance deems to infer further complexity against the world of business vendors, merchants, banks alike & the consumers who are much more protected as a result of a payment fraud or monetary laundry crime.

Fidor is not a member of The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to the best of my knowledge.

Payment Card Industry Security Standards. This is predictively to footprint how a cardholder is going to safe-paying a service or product locally & aboard!
