(UPDATE): Fidor UK & the "imaginary" testimonials.
I see that Fidor UK have quietly removed the photos from the "imaginary" testimonials on their website after I alerted the community to the fact that they were fake, replacing them with cartoon pictures - but have left the textual reviews left by these non-existent forum users.
https://community.fidorbank.uk/finance-questions/fidor-uk-and-the-imaginary-testimonials/2296
For those that didn't know, the use of fake reviews by businesses is illegal in the UK and any businesses that do so are in breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and can be imposed with UNLIMITED fines (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/online-reviews-and-endorsements-advice-for-businesses/online-reviews-giving-consumers-the-full-picture).
Instead of thanking me for alerting Fidor UK to the fact that what they were doing was illegal and therefore saving them from potential unlimited fines, they decided to send me another "shutup" email before quietly removing the said fake pictures, thus proving the accuracy of my statement.
Thanks Fidor UK and you're welcome.
Feel free to post a full and unconditional public apology as soon as you have removed the fake text too - just in case someone decides to report it......

Love the 'cool' formatting of the usernames, very realistic.
The Fidor Brand Manager or whatever was like 'The cool kids are hip-hopping on the internet with usernames like this, I inflitrated Yahoo groups and know how they talk.'

not that i have anything to do with them, but do any of you honestly give any serious attention to testimonials like that on a website? I'm honestly curious, because i find them dubious on any website .. but there's people like Mpat (and others?) giving them serious consideration, then maybe they are worth using ..
I don't read/trust testimonials but I know what a lot of other people do.
And people are impacted by testimonials without realising it, such is the power of 'social proof', we do tend to look to others for info about how to act.
I agree with Mpat - if those reviews are fake as they appear to be then it is illegal and embarassing tbh.

well, just to be clear, i absolutely dont agree with having fake testimonials and also don't have anything to do with these (as mentioned), that said, thanks Eggbert, i hadn't really considered using them for my own sites before, but think i might now (not fake ones, lol, real ones for me)
All studies and researches show that between 65% - 95% of potential customers who read business reviews are influenced by what they read and trust them. This is why the UK government is cracking down so hard on those businesses that betray their customers trust who post fake reviews by increasing the fines from £5000 to "unlimited". It is false advertising, misleading, dishonest and illegal.
all studies and research shows that Mpat can only attack and try to throw abuse at businesses and people, this is why the psychological profile of people who can only attack others over the interwebs is heavily in question and constantly brought up in parliament. This is why the UK government is cracking down hard on spiteful little delinquents that abuse others on the internet and especially on the platforms which allow such abuse to exist and continue.
there already exist laws of reporting these type of disgusting people and the respective platforms to authorities, in many cases the authorities will go straight after the abusive harraser, there are many, many precendent cases like this
this year especially will be created many precedent cases will be used throughout next year to clean up the very large criminal element within the "Cryptocurrency" sector, bit by bit they shall go down and be locked up or fined :)
(ofc i've kept records of you Mpat, your slander, harrassment, defamation, and more)
just because Fidor doesn't do anything properly about you doesn't mean i won't :D (a lot of people are very clueless about me, and don't realize how simple it is to find you and press a personal case against you, especially if you're in the UK).
you can go right ahead and do whatever you want with your babbling about Fidor, my 'eye' is on you :) and has been for a while :)

That's a very abusive post and will be tagged.
Using phrases like "spiteful little delinquents" and "disgusting" towards customers goes against the terms and conditions of this forum, but publicly threatening them with comments such as "just because Fidor doesn't do anything properly about you doesn't mean i won't" and "my eye is on you and has been for a while" is classed as threating behaviour and illegal. I have archived and copied this page for reference and will report you to the relevent authorities unless you apologise.
Correctly pointing out illegal marketing practices to deliberately mislead potential customers is not "slander, harrassment, defamation" - it is pointing out the truth and trying to protect customers from being fooled by illegal marketing practises.
While other customers have commented in favour of my revelation and "liked" the post, you choose to post an angry, abusive and threatening message, which is a bit strange and completely uncalled for.
If you're OK with your bank acting illegally, that's fine - but that doesn't give you the right to abuse, insult and threaten those of us who are not OK with it.

@Mpat: I join Eggbertstein in agreeing with you, the use of fake reviews using photos randomly scraped from the internet is abhorrent and deceitful behavior, especially for a so called bank - well done and thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.
History has shown us that banks need to be kept in check, because if they are not, it is ultimately us poor customers who end up paying the price for this kind of illegal malpractice. It is down to us, the customers, to ensure that the bank we choose to trust our hard earned cash with behaves in an honest and proper manner and operate within the law, if it isn't, it is our duty to alert both them and other customers about it.
There isn't much worth reading on this forum, 90% of the posts here are drivel posted for payment, but there are a few real people who post something factual and worth reading - thank you. I appreciate anyone who is prepared to stick their neck out to inform others about the truth (I'm a big wikileaks fan).
I do find it strange that one of the people responsible for the 90% of drivel posts here is offended by the truthful, factual posts of others, however, abusing and threatening other posters in the manner that he has is unforgivable. Had those insults and abuse been aimed at me, I would not have had the grace to offer him the chance to apologize and would instead have gone straight to the authorities/police to report it. But that's just me and I'm a woman, not that it makes any difference in these circumstances, but one does have to be careful nowadays. I have tagged his disgusting torrent of abuse also, I hope it helps.
I somehow doubt that Fidor UK will accommodate your request for a public apology, but they should.
Good luck.
